Though it may not look like it, I actually do quite like animal prints... in moderation. Italian footwear brand Superglamourous sent me the most amazing custom-made leopard babouches that I'm absolutely smitten over. With full leather interiors, they cloud my feet in buttery softness; it honestly feels like I'm walking on air. Because I want to savor the glory that is this shoe - I can't wear them everywhere.

Comfort is key with me. I can't possibly be confident in myself if I'm not comfortable in what I'm wearing. I was beyond thrilled when Italian footwear brand Superglamourous sent me this amazing pair of custom-made hair skin babouche slippers! They have the most beautiful texture and the leopard print was a nice surprise. The fit is exquisite and the inside is lined with buttery-soft leather that feels like I'm wearing nothing at all. Stylistically, these are so on point with current trends. If you haven't already, be sure to check out this pair and the other amazing styles they have here.

This weekend, Bonnie (of FlashesOfStyle fame) and I met up with our blogger pal Bobby Raffin for a Saturday of fun, friends and food. We grabbed some tea at my new favorite spot, David's Tea, before hitting up Central Park's Bethesda Fountain area. We had a blast taking pictures and talking to strangers. NYFW: W Hotels + Suzanne Rae Fall 2012

For the Fall 2012 Fashion Week, I had the rewarding pleasure of attending a few additional shows in Lincoln Center as a guest of W Hotels. Each season, W Hotels works with the ever-fabulous Jenné Lombardo (resident Global Fashion Director for W Hotels) to discover and cultivate a selection of emerging designers. These designers are invited to show their collections at Lincoln Center among the thousands of NYFW attendees and influencers.

For Suzanne Rae's Fall 2012 Collection, she turned to muse-worthy men like Jim Morrison, Aldous Huxley and William Blake. Both poetic and rock-and-roll, Rae crafted an experience for viewers that brought the mind to a higher level of spirituality with gorgeous velvet frocks, faux fur pelts and laser-cut separates. With a noticeable experimentation in unique draping techniques, Rae presented a thoughtful and edgy collection that was a playful nod to where many fall closets will be heading.

NYFW: W Hotels + Rochambeau Fall 2012

For the Fall 2012 Fashion Week, I had the rewarding pleasure of attending a few additional shows in Lincoln Center as a guest of W Hotels. These designers are invited to show their collections at Lincoln Center among the thousands of NYFW attendees and influencers.

Amid a dark forest of levitating trees and saturated mulch, Joshua Cooper and Laurence Chandler showcased a collection of edgy, rugged menswear for their stellar line, Rochambeau. Ripe with color and rich in substance, the collection favored the laissez-faire attitude that can only come from a confident and masculine man. Leather-bound boots and bold ox-blood knits gave the collection a nonchalance and effortlessness that is sure to see a swift movement from retail floors to the closets of urbanites worldwide. Note-worthy were the handmade fringed accessories that were the absolute "cherry on top" for a stellar first show at Lincoln Center.

As you may have noticed, I like a good arm jamboree. I actually feel quite naked if I don't have something in/around/dangling from my wrist. With that said, I'm picky when it comes to timepieces. Watches tend to be too large, too small, too feminine or not stylish enough. There are a few designer watches that I love but unfortunately - I'm not planning to break the bank to buy them.

I was so thrilled when I approached by Breil Watches to be one of the influencers to herald in their newest collection, aptly named Orchestra. Built from the inside-out, these watches offer a unique "behind the scenes" glimpse into the history of its construction - a nod to Italy's longstanding history in the art of glass-making.

They recently sent me this absolutely stunning and stylish TW1018. The sleek black and green interface complements just about every color I wear. Plus, at $425, it's a nice piece you can save up for and still have money left over to buy me a fancy dinner (hint, hint).

I'm not afraid to say I have a bright personality. Many would try to substitute "bright" with, say, "hyperactive" or "wild"... but I would beg to differ. I like color in everything and that just happens to also include my outlook on life. What's the point of wasting time in a black-and-white existence? I sure as hell haven't had the best nights of my life in a wonder-lacking routine at home.

You heard it here first, folks: I love colored denim. Wearing color on your bottom half is like an instant mood-lifter. I can't help but look down while I'm walking (or sitting at my desk or standing in line at Starbucks) - and *BAM* try to keep from smiling, I dare you! I definitely needed a pick-me-up after the exhaustion we dub as "New York Fashion Week" and these banana yellow Zara Jeans did the trick!

I paired them with a Zara shirt in goldenrod/black and a Alexander Wang bolero-style sleeve, which almost gave the shirt a 'raglan sleeve jacket' aura. I love pairing classic style (like stripes) with interesting colors to create worthwhile combinations. Do you wear colored denim? If so, what's your favorite style?

With Fashion Week wrapping up, I am more than thrilled to get pockets of time during the day to relax. No more running around like a madman and definitely no more unnecessary cab rides from uptown to downtown and back uptown. Blegh!

I spent the day catching up on work and getting all my ducks in order. The bright spot of my day has been this amazing new case from Casemate that I got during a recent blogger gifting bazaar called the Tastemakers Suite, held by Socialyte Collective at the Caravan Stylist Studio. I love how each colorful panel connects together to create one hell of a rainbow!

It reminds me of a color-by-number book. And we all know it doesn't take much to catch my attention ;)

It's great to see familiar face at New York Fashion Week. It's what keeps most of us sane. You give the cordial 'Hello' to those stylists you haven't seen in years. Brandon Sun Fall 2012: Fur-ocious

When Brandon Sun began designing his Fall 2012 Collection, he looked to the 'silent assassins' in history to weave a tale of peaceful ferocity. Using his signature expertise in fur-based apparel, Sun presented a collection that was both fluidly bold but also incredibly tailored for his fan base of today's initiators, leaders and innovators. These are pieces that quietly define strength and versatile democracy. This former J. Mendel designer knows his way around a fur and this collection is proof that the living dead can be a freeing experience.

CFDA Impact Exhibition - Fall 2012

This year marks the Council of Fashion Designers of America's fiftieth anniversary. The CFDA recently partnered up with the Fashion Institute of Technology's 'Museum at FIT' to curate an exciting collection of runway looks from some of it's members over the last 50 years. The collection, which accompanies the release of the book 50 Years of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, is a look at iconic silhouettes that rocked fashion (and pop) culture. CFDA President Diane Von Furstenberg rejoiced that "[we] have a great honor in looking at people who re-charged the way we dress". Designer Oscar De La Renta reminisced that "as the CFDA continues to grow, so does [my] family; we are a family of like-minded people who just love fashion".

Other CFDA members in attendance included power player Donna Karan, "It Girl" Tory Burch, sweetheart designer Nicole Miller and jeweler Philip Crangi, among others. The exhibit runs through April 20th, 2012.

VEDA Fall 2012: Punk Rock Rickshaw

For those of us who remember the 1980's, there are few who wouldn't wish to relive it just one last time. Killer hair, wicked music and a globally-shared love for all things grunge populated pop culture. The F/W 2012 Collection of "purveyor of leather" VEDA was a flashback to better times. Graffiti littered the walls of the basement presentation where models donned cropped leather motorcycle jackets, brocade-style glitter pants and paisley printed pant suits. VEDA was grunge glam to the max and they certainly weren't apologetic for it. Viva la VEDA.

Highlights: Cropped motorcycle vests, paisley rompers, neutral mauve plaids, pattern-blocking blazers

Trends Hit: pattern-blocking, brocade, paisley and plaid, bold maroon, mauve accents

Accessories: Glitter booties, silver cap-toed oxfords, knee-high stockings, spiked earrings

Favorite Piece: Black brocade blazer with black leather lapels and silver hardware. Grunge-gorgeous!

Gretchen Jones Fall 2012: Prints Charming

The Oregon native and previous Project Runway winner Gretchen Jones turned it out this season with her F/W 2012 Collection. Inspiring exotic prints culled from a variety of global cultures painted a canvas of adult creativity with names like Flourite, Apache Tears and Bloodstone. As entrancing as they were wearable, it’s no mystery to see why Gretchen Jones has become a success. If this collection is any indication of her future, it looks quite promising, as well.

Highlights: Body-con dresses in exotic prints, hand-crafted perforated tops, ornate beading, kaleidoscope patterns darted with color-blocking side panels

Trends Hit: exotic prints, embroidery, negative side paneling, western influence, global fusion

NYFW Day 1: Neutral Drifter

Neutrals are my jam. The reason being that neutrals are so easy to play up. Throw on a shade of blue and you instantly cool down any beige, grey or tan. Snap on a series of bright red bracelets and suddenly your outfits has a certain fire to it.

My neutral ensemble (paired with a neutral American Apparel knit throw-on) was popped thankfully to two choice accessories: my handmade bow-tie and my new H&M cobalt-soled brogues.

With New York Fashion Week well under way today, I've eased my way into my outfits with this gem. What are your thoughts?

I like things that are funny in a stupid way. Fart jokes, unfortunately, will never get old to me. Ever. The phrase "well that's just poopy" is said at least once a day. Immature? Maybe. Damn funny? Why, yes! I got this shirt from the freakin' hilarious Mike Kelton. I don't know why but I love it... it's my kind of cheeky. And kind of douche-y, right? :)

Because in the end... who doesn't die wanting to be the star of... home movies?

Two other things I'm loving today: these olive green Comune pants and this awesome woven belt from Number A Boutique. They pair so well together - match made in style heaven. The pants are insanely comfortable and have plenty of give for those over-voracious snack times with Claire Geist (my gorgeous photographer). Plus the belt it uber-adjustable - which reinforces my snacking. I think there is an upcoming TLC program with my name written all over it...

There are few things that I love more than what I call "in-betweeny weather". It's not too hot, not too cold - just right for a light jacket. With a mild winter that can't seem to make up its mind, we've had a lot of "in-betweeny days" and I'm definitely not complaining.

In fashion, you can't follow every trend. It's impossible to grow your personal style while trying to follow the style of another person. However, it's always fun to see how some trends fit into your own style - so I encourage you to try out interesting new trends. Style them out in your own unique way -- that's how you continue to develop your personal aesthetic.

With sportswear becoming an increasingly relevant topic among the fashion set, you will see how designers are adapting their collections to reflect inspiration from the sports community - racerback dresses, thick padded shoulders and cropped cap-sleeve tops have infiltrated studios all over the city (and quite possibly the country - thanks to mass market retailers).

I tried out my own D.I.Y crop-top seen on the runways of Milan, London and New York recently (seen here, here and here). With it being winter, I tweaked it a bit with a cashmere knit, denim vest and scarf.... #cozy.

I'm particularly drawn to her Loeffler Randall Resort 2012 Collection - now available on her site. The washed-out Ibiza vibe of her campaign images showcase the sandy neutrals in the resort footwear.

With the weather in constant flux, it's hard to properly plan appropriate outfits. It's either too cold or too hot or too rainy or it's the apocalypse - or whatever. Lately, the rain has been doing a dance of its own. Anyone with curly hair will tell you that the rain is the enemy. Frizz is to curly-haired folk what Cruella was to the 101 Dalmations. Evil at its core.

I decided to do my rain dance this time around (with fellow blogger and all-around "merecoil" Claire Geist). And luckily, it worked. Natural phenomenon*, oh yes.

* I'm refusing to believe my brownie-laden body cortortions were not responsible for this lack of rain.

Thanks to a constant stream of brownies, bear claws, oatmeal and milkshakes - I'm well on my way to my dream of becoming a sumo wrestler. This is obviously a lie. I'm planning to host a pity party for myself this weekend at Chuck-E-Cheese.

Winter is one of those "off" times when you eat everything in sight because you're just not sure when your hibernation will start. Rise and shine my fellow foodies - it's time to get it together. It's 2012 ... we could be dead by December. (stupid Mayans!)

Some things never change. Like my distaste of cold weather or my perpetually broken microwave - I'm hoping my landlord is reading this. I am so excited for this year ahead. I can't believe we're almost one month down. It's quite frightening how quickly time is starting to fly. Does this mean I'm getting old? Is an assisted living facility on the horizon? I may or may not be wearing Depends. ~~Shit.~~

I came home from Berlin this weekend to only small bits of snow on the ground. It's like winter took a small crap on all my plans - not enough snow to play with but just enough to keep me inside. Thank god I have these red gloves. They're the only thing keeping me sane at the moment.

My first full day in Berlin was such an amazing experience. Between meeting some amazing brands and getting to see one of the most forward-thinking trade shows ever, I'm absolutely loving this place. The city is not only beautiful but it is also one of the most history-rich places I've seen in a long time. There is a fabulous mix of antiquity and modernism in the architecture here. Art and luxury sit on every corner. It's absolutely wunderbar!

With winter weather forcing us to pull out our heaviest neutral coats, it's no wonder that we look like a sea of herring. Black, grey and camel are currently littering the streets of New York City. Don't be part of the hideous masses. A pop of color is exactly what you need to stand out and show off your own sartorial personality. My pop of choice is always cobalt. Bright, bold and undeniably sexy, cobalt warms up any outfit without overstaying its welcome.

Here, I've paired a cobalt sweater from J.Crew with both a wool Inoue Brothers scarf and bright messenger from Truvow. Peppering this outfit are sneaky bits of sage green and caramel - two great supplementary colors to combat the winter drab.

Life-changing. That's the only way I can describe the new lens I ordered from Ritz Camera. Lightweight and powerful... I'm sure that's how people describe me behind-my-back, right? Kidding. But really... I do hope that's what they say. Regardless, I am beyond thrilled with the quality of photo that my new lens (35MM - f/1.8 prime) is giving me. Since this lens is a "prime", it means that there is no zoom range on the lens so what you see in the viewfinder is what you're getting. Bitchin'... with the perfect focus range so the subject (that's me!) becomes super clear.

Crisp, colorful and light-filled photos are the result. What do you think? Nice upgrade? I would think so.

You know that ride at every amusement park that is the "killer". It's the highest, most thrilling, vomit-inducing one that only a couple of people have died on. You always want to ride that one because you can come back from it with a t-shirt that says, "I rode The Bone-Crusher and Survived" ... as if it was one of the labors of Hercules. Well, friends... that little ride is called Fashion Blogging. Scary name - I know. I've already changed out my pee-pants ~~twice~~ thrice.

There are thrills: fashion shows, new friends, sick parties and free schwag! Then there are the dangers: late nights at Dunkin Donuts trying to steal WIFI so you can finish a sponsored post, friends who no longer want to take your photos because it's cold outside and the dreaded "Google deleted my blog" hyperventilation moments.

It's a bit like the Hunger Games. You and your new stylish friends are pitted against one another for coveted brand collaborations and purist partnerships that make you the "big bucks" (blogger lingo, obviously). Only one of you can come out alive... is it you? ** I'm clearly Katniss Everdeen in this instance. I mean, I am not dying in this chapter. I've got two more books to star in. **

At any rate, the Pros outweigh the Cons here. You wake up to a flurry of feedback (emails, comments, etc.) with people shouting about you've inspired them. How cool is that? Three months in and I'm still kicking.

Basically the bottom line is: I love chocolate brownies. I will fight to the death for chocolate brownies. Bloggers, beware...

As a self-diagnosed hoarder, I have an affinity for bags of all sizes. My special favorites are the ones that encourage my hoarding because you never know when you'll need that candy wrapper from last week or yesterday's expired Metrocard. (I told you... I have a problem!) Needless to say, I found my magic dream bag from the land of leather love. I was recently gifted Sienna Ray's Medusa Satchel and it is quite literally made for me. Friends, heed my warning: New Years will make you fat. There, I said it. And I'm not talking like "a few loose pounds" fat... I'm talking like FAT fat. I ate close to my weight in snacks over the past few days and spent the day attempting to slowly walk it off. Claire and I hopped around SoHo for a bit ducking in and out of stores selling merchandise neither of us could afford. The great part was we didn't stop for snacks once which means... we're learning! Yay!

Today's outfit was a bit of a frenzy filler. I threw on some clothes and ran some errands. These are "errand clothes" and I love them like they were my own kin. I need to think of New Year's resolutions... I'm a little late on this game. Help me!

New Year, New Moons

 HAPPY NEW YEAR! 

STORY: When I was seventeen, I would volunteer at a local nursing home doing odd jobs to get my community service hours. I would always try to talk to each of the residents, even if it was just a quick hello. One of the older women would always respond to my well wishes with "Honey, I pray I just make it to the next New Moon". For some strange reason, that has stuck with me.

With 2011 on the outs, I'm already planning some terrible and hilarious things to do to make 2012 a chart-topper for me. I laughed more in the past year than I have in ages. My best friends are the greatest support group I could ask for - even when I'm acting like a complete and utter loony tune (which, apparently, happens often). #manicmondays 

So friends - it's a New Year and a New Moon. I'm ready to make some damn magic happen.

Here are a few wishes I have for 2012:

1. I would love to see harem pants eradicated from fashion lingo. There are only like 4 people in the whole world who looks good in them. And we are not one of them.

2. I want to be on Price is Right. I promise not to wear a bra and let my boobs fall out when I "come on down to contestant row".

3. I hope Adele doesn't find true love. I want her to stay sad forever - she makes some damn good music when she is upset.

4. It should be law that restaurants have fun photobooths. Dinner can be so boring sometimes.

5. Are clogs coming back in style? If so, those need to be burned in the thousands. #gross

6. I want to laugh so hard that I almost pee my pants. Who wants to clean that up?

7. I hope each of you has the most exciting year of your lives. As the short-lived all girlband Cherish would say, "Do It To It". BAM.

If you know me, you know I am a creature of habit - especially when it comes to fashion. I love chambray, Alexander Wang and plaid. These are things that will never get old for me. Ever.

Brooklyn Industries recently sent me this amazing plaid shirt that is now an obsession. The colors are so rich and saturated while the checked portions carry their own curious weight unlike anything I've seen before. They call it the Lawrence Shirt; however, I'm dubbing it my "Every Person Shirt". Seriously... girl, guy, dog, grandma. Anyone can tackle this little gem. With a bevy of colors, every skin tone is complemented - in particular, those with skin in the olive/ruddy range. (Me, Me, Me!)

The holidays are always a time for firsts. I bought my first Alexander Wang jacket. I started a new workout class. And this weekend will be the first Christmas I haven't spent with my family. Initially, I had the Christmas blues but I'm currently in the Hamptons enjoying a glass of red wine and watching Adele videos on replay. I won't lie... this is a great Christmas eve.

There are few things more unequivocally miserable than rain in New York City. Damp, crowded and distracting - New York rain is enough to put a sour note in anyone's day. Then it clears up. And it's beautiful. Today was one of those days when the rain left a magical playground among some of the City's biggest landmarks. I spent my lunch around the New York City Public Library. There are so many hidden treasures in and around the area - you'd have to be a real Grinch not to feel like a kid again, exploring a pirate ship or desert paradise.

As we get older, it's important that we remember who we were when we were kids. Re-gain that innocence for the magic in life ... and I promise we'd all be a lot happier. No more frowns - only big smiles (and great clothes!). Somehow as a kid, I was always breathing fire. I was the dragon. And d'you know what I found out today... I was always the fire-breather. And forever will be.

Something wonderful has happened, friends! I won't detail too much ... but I will say there is a fire running through my work life that has never felt so...spot on! You'll find out soon enough, friends - but for now, you'll have to take my word for it! :)

I spent the day with two of my besties, Natalie and Claire. We went to an amazing Blogger Garage Sale at the ARROJO salon downtown. A number of your favorites donated clothes and accessories to be sold - all proceeds benefited Women in Need. It was great to see all the familiar faces, like Keiko, Helena and Kim. Afterward, the gal-pals and I walked around the West Village where we found the most amazing new tea shop that was a must-stop for our little excursion. We each got a hot mug and chatted for most of the afternoon. It was a much-needed catchup session! Since the weather is so freakin' cold now in New York City - I'm actually dressing more appropriately.

I'm making a confession: I love ribbons. Big ribbons, little ribbons, blue ribbons, black ribbons. You know a ribbon... and I am sure to like it. My favorite thing about using ribbons is creating cute D.I.Y. bowties from it. There is a "I just did this" or "I threw this on so non-chalantly" thing about wearing a deconstructed tie. I wore this to the Belle & Clive pre-launch party and loved it.

I have been patiently awaiting the official launch of new private sale site Belle & Clive. I was thrilled to have Belle & Clive request my presence at their pre-launch event on Monday night. Held at the Double Cross Lounge in NYC, this was one swanky party. Some of my favorite fashion mavens were giggling over and admiring the vintage accessories displayed around the room. From Chanel to Louboutins, these were some stellar products. Was this any indication of the designers sold on Belle & Clive? I came to find out - it most certainly was!

Supermodel and Victoria's Secret angel Chanel Iman hosted the event and made her way around the room to greet each guest. I can honestly say, Chanel may be one of the most beautiful people on the planet. She not only has beauty, she is also one of the nicest girl ever. We spoke about her recent turn down the Victoria's Secret runway and upcoming projects (... she has lots in the works!)

Signature drinks included the Belle (Double Cross vodka infused with pomegranate) and the Clive (Double Cross vodka infused with spiced apple cider)... YUM! There was a dizzying amount of performances from dazzling DJ duo, Mia Moretti and Caitlin Moe. Guests, including myself, were dancing the night away to our favorite tunes remixed and accompanied by Caitlin's sincerely-amazing electric violin performance. Yes, electric violin... it was life-changing.

Guests were able to preview the Belle & Clive shopping events and even choose an item for themselves. Events included: YSL, Bottega Veneta, Paul Smith, Furla, Judith Ripka ... and a super sneak peek of today's Miu Miu event. We had the most amazing time - thanks to the fabulous Belle & Clive team for getting us involved.

Kiddie Stuff

There are few things I love more than a simple grilled cheese and steaming bowl of tomato soup. Today was that day. With the weather getting much, much chillier - it's always paramount that I dress appropriately for the severe wind chill. But on the flip side - I need to cut the calories back to make sure I don't gain the dreaded "Winter 15" - oh dear! A simple grilled cheese and tomato soup combo is both tasty and efficient (read as: cheap!).

Since I was planning to go to the Poleci event this specific day, I decided on a warm but colorful palette. Shawl sweaters/cardigans are my absolute favorite. They compliment any frame and look (and feel) cozy. The shoes are navy blue suede. Yes, I was dying when I saw them. I was dead when I wore them... #fashionfrenzy.

Future 'Poleci'

I kid you not... I adore leather. And not in the extremist S&M kind of way. I like leather as any normal fashion-obsessed boy would. The minute I walked into Poleci's new store in the Meatpacking district... I could sense it. A half-perforated leather and chiffon top screamed my name. From that moment on - I was hooked.

From sheer menswear-inspired blouses in Beetlejuice stripes to dazzling dresses in head-to-toe sequins, I had a hard time taking my eyes off Poleci's new collection. It's the new go-to spot for girls looking to expand their wardrobes to the next step. Classically cut silhouettes dominate the collections and, boy, were they freakin' beautiful.

The party was hosted by the gorgeous trifecta of bloggerdom: Lindsey Calla of Saucy Glossie, Christina Caradona of Trop Rouge, and Lauren Valenti from The Vogue Vibes. As if this wasn't obvious, the girls looked fabulous donning looks from Poleci's current collection.

We drank, we danced (with DJ Chelsea Leyland... she was magical!) and shopped the new must-haves from the collection. They may not make menswear (...yet) but believe me - it wouldn't be the first time I've stuffing these guns into a blouse or two.

Iwas invited to share in a night of fun with new Soho boutique See Eyewear. You will not believe how many styles they have at this boutique. It literally may be hundreds or... thousands? My mind was a complete dizzy; I honestly didn't know where to begin. Whatever your hearts desire, you can likely find that exact dreamy pair. (No lies)

From their website, See Eyewear says...

After the design phase, prototypes are sent to SEE for review where they go through another relentless editing process. If it isn’t “special”, it doesn’t make the cut. As a result, SEE’s collection is an eclectic and unique assortment of the best of the best: made exclusively for us. Mass production is a massive no-no at SEE.

Another plus, they were serving Hpnotiq and Hpnotiq Harmonie. I haven't had Hpnotiq since long before my 21st birthday... so this was a definite throwback to high school. I tried out the Harmonie with Prosecco, which was unbelievably delicious. The Harmonie has amazing floral notes that sweeten up the drink without overpowering any add-ins.

My friend and I had a great time trying on funky pairs that threw us right back into the 50's - think thick-rimmed cateye frames. I probably don't have to tell you that cat-eyes look horrific on me. This is a truth that I stand behind. I was beyond obsessed with a pair of green acrylic frames that were very masculine and Mad Men-esque. I'm hoping to snag a pair sooner than later ... so many to choose from!

Yurman Fever

There are some things that never change. One of those things is my undying love for the magic that is David Yurman jewelry. Both iconic and contemporary, Yurman's pieces are always top-notch - from cable rings to hammered link necklaces. I recently shared my love for David Yurman with other like-minded bloggers - and boy did we ever have fun! Bubbly and baubles, galore!

And let me be the first to tell you... this Holiday 2011 Collection is: OUT. OF. CONTROL.

It was such a treat to see all of my favorite gals like Caroline, Lindsey, Kelly, Taisa, Kimberly and the gorgeous gals from Little BlackList. The event was held at the Yurman Townhouse in Upper East Side - gorgeous new building to house all the Yurman greats.

We got to try on anything we wanted - too bad my fingers were a hair too big (read as: huge) or else I would have worn any and all of the dizzying array of diamond rings. And when I say "diamond", I'm not talking about Zales-type diamonds. I'm talking DIAMONDS - like huge, break-your-neck-over-it diamonds. [insert "I'm in shock!" face] Don't ask me about the karats... just trust me, it was a lot.

Thanks to David Yurman (@davidyurman) and Attention PR (@attentionusa) for an amazing event. Couldn't have had a more perfect evening - can't wait of the next one. I'm going to do a few hand exercises to make sure I can slip my little digits into the next collection.

Prom Bunny

Sometimes - life doesn't always go as planned. This, I know, is fact. My prom some-odd years ago was disastrous. I may or may not have vomited in a trash can outside of IHOP. (Yes, I went to IHOP after prom... at the time, this seemed like the be-all, end-all date spot.) Without explicitly mentioning what other atrocities ensued, there are many aspects of that night that I refuse to recollect. So imagine my surprise when I get to do it all over again... but this time was going to be very ~~similar~~ different.

A friend decided to celebrate his birthday with a Prom-themed bash, equipped with prizes for the best dressed in attendance. (side note: I lost) We danced, we drank, we danced, we drank and then took an ass-ton of photobooth pictures. It was lovely...

If you know me well, you know I can never half-ass anything. If I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it 100% - no slackery. I wanted to go for a Hugh Hefner-meets-Mad Men look ... straight from the vaults of the Playboy Club. Ba-da-bing! I found these ears at BCBG thanks to the ever-lovely Liz [insert last name I do not know]. For me, they were the perfect punch of drama that I needed to take my outfit from good to great.

Also, question of the day: I am attending an event on Tuesday with Vogue magazine and David Yurman. Debating on what I should wear... thoughts?

Marble Made

The weather continues to get colder as Father Winter packs his bags for a long stay in New York City. Everyone is starting to put on their gloom faces and break out the monotone wardrobe - black, gray, black, white... and black. Fortunately, I don't own that many items in the macabre category so I'm sticking to my bold brights: tomato red, pumpkin orange, ripe pear, mustard... and for neutrals, gotta have that milk chocolate. If you're seeing a food trend... ding ding ding - you're right on the money. This winter is going to be a continuation of those edible fall flavors but with a new spice. That signature kick can come from just about anywhere: sparkly vintage brooches, teal felt fedora or stark metallic heels. Jazz up that outfit... no one likes a Boring Betty. No one.

My amazing coworker Dan and I spent our lunch out in Bryant Park (our typical haunt) soaking up the last itsy bitsy ray of sun. I didn't get a tan but it was definitely a refresher. The wind was a bit disasterous so we took haven in the New York Public Library - which has a marvelous marble stone entrance. God, I love good marble. And this - my friends - was some damn good marble. #stonehorny

The process of maintaining and running of any blog can be time-consuming. But when the blog revolves around fashion and your own personal style - it can be downright strenuous. Most people don't realize what must happen to capture those great shots everyday and establish a verified, trusted site with a set of fabulous followers. I've always tried to make sure I present a unique and interesting viewpoint on personal style. I ~~think~~ hope so at least...? Personality is such an important factor in my life - it dictates much (if not almost all) the decisions and paths I take. It's not a domineering, pathetic quality but more of a "North Star" for how I live my life. I dress like Justin because I want to be me down to my very core - which is why my personal style is so integral for me. If I don't look like myself on the outside, how can I be myself on the inside... does that make sense?

In any point, I hope each of you strives to be who you are and dress the part. Whether that role is grunge-driven prep schooler or anime-loving business casual ... your style is your style - so own it.

Field of Dreams

Life can be a hazy, beautiful thing when you allow yourself to let go for a few select moments. I spend my days in the dizzy hustle of New York City - constantly shadowing my breath to take another breathless step toward an unknown career-driven milestone. People flock to New York City to chase a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that they won't find elsewhere.

But sometimes... you need to breathe. You need to undo that corset and expand those lungs. I recently came home to Mississippi for the holidays. It's funny how a place that was once a prison can become a haven when viewed in a different light. I spent my life trying to get out of Mississippi and when I did - I realized that I left a piece of my soul here. It's only when I came back that I realize I need this place every now and again to complete me. New York City may have my heart, but my soul lies in Mississippi. I honestly can't believe I'm saying that but I am. It's out there and Google is picking it up.

Style File: Leather Forever

There is something so badass about owning a leather jacket. It's the visceral, warm feeling you get slipping your bare arms through the thick leather sleeves and knowing you can take over the world - just you and your motorcycle. Granted, most of us don't own a motorcycle or a calm and collected attitude. It really doesn't matter if you bought your leather jacket yesterday or got it "hand-me-down" as a 40-year-old heirloom from your grandfather's "cool days" - it's an integral part of everyone's wardrobe.

I love leather. A lot. And not in a sick, sado-masochist type way. I like leather because I can wear a piece a million times and the more I wear it, the better it looks. Worn-in leather is like candy for me. [Note: I never condone leather pants. I think they are hideous and horrible. Leather shorts... now those we can work with]

But... the most amazing part about leather is its ability to play both an uptown and a downtown role in shaping your outfits. Paired with a sheer blouse and feathered skirt, leather gives off a chic, sexualized vibe. While alternatively, pair a leather jacket with black skinny jeans, sporty pullover and gaucho hat - you've got a relaxed, dry style to take you into the weekend. Boo-yah!

Man Repeller x Alex & Eli - Launch Party

Unless you're completely out of touch with current culture, you should know the term "Man Repeller" (or at least "Arm Party"). Stylish NYC blogger Leandra Medine (@manrepeller) created her quirky style blog Man Repeller a few years back to provide a haven for fashion-forward girls whose outfits weren't exactly magnets for the menfolk.

Leandra recently collaborated with fresh-on-the-scene suiting company Alex & Eli. The brand is the brainchild of Anna Zeman and Aja Singer, two Parsons grads obsessed with suiting and sartorial style. Leandra's blazer was all about the repelling. It was a gorgeous update on a classic men's hunting jacket. Duo-toned in hunter green and grey - I basically fell over myself to try it on. If there is anyone that can pull off a girl-as-chic-woodsman look ... it's Leandra. Plus, the jacket had a cute peek-a-boo message on the inside (show in photo above).

Alex & Eli held the launch event in the Library at swanky NYC hotspot Soho House. Natalie, Claire, Dan and myself danced the night away listening to a killer playlist from DJ NVM. We drank wine, ate candy and giggled like schoolgirls while wearing our faux mustaches. Note: We are totally ~~immature~~ mature.

I won't put a number to how many cookies I ate, but it isn't a single digit. Don't judge me...

WO/MAN: Chambraby

As most of you likely realize - I have an ~~unhealthy~~ obsession with chambray. If you're not familiar, chambray in its most basic form looks similarly to denim. The difference is that chambray is extremely lightweight - since it's just white filling yarn woven over colored warp (or thread families). I would guesstimate that upwards of 20% of my wardrobe is composed of chambray items: button-downs, scarves, shorts, trousers, blazers... even a few chambray shoe options. Yes, it has gotten that bad! Is there a 12-step program for something like this? I clearly need help. Since I won't be paying anyone to curb my retail therapy - I've decided to create a WO/MAN piece based around two chambray looks: one look for a girl and the other for a guy.

WOMAN: This Live Well tuxedo-front chambray dress feels a little "House on the Prairie" at first inspection, but with a few choice additions you can turn this frock from rural to runway. This Madewell Mustard Cardigan radiates with librarian-chic which is perfectly complemented by these fabulous tortoise-shell glasses from Warby Parker. Since we want sultry and not sullen, we'll show off those Kardashian-style curves (...joking) with a leather belt from Madewell and finish off with these "to die for" spiked Ardena shoes from Sam Edelman. Look at you, RAWR!

MAN: Nothing says "He's Attractive" more than a fashionably rugged look. This J.Crew Red Chambray Shirt is the perfect starting off point. Sleek and masculine, this shirt provides the perfect canvas. In order to balance the washed-out effect of the shirt, we're pairing it with these sea foam green jean from Current/Elliot. Chambray shoes from Converse and Gap Chambray puffer jacket provide weather appropriate additions. Now for the finishing touch... Add an American Apparel Bow Tie into the mix and you've secured yourself as a sure-fire street style star!

Brooklyn Birthday

My friends and I love to take little day-trips. That's the beauty of living in Manhattan - you're a few transit stops away from neighborhoods that house new and unknown cultures. While it wasn't an unfamiliar stop for us, we decided to check out Juventino in Park Slope (that's Brooklyn, for those of you not in the know). The food was amazing! I got the Steel Cut Oatmeal and a side of Honey Wheat Grain Toast (smeared with butter, like a good southern boy). To say this was a perfect Sunday brunch treat would be an understatement.

We were out celebrating both Nathan and Alex's birthdays so we naturally made our way over to Excelsior's happy hour for a celebratory drink... this was following our celebratory toast at brunch. For those of you who don't know me yet, note that I like to toast - which means I love a good drink. After we consumed enough to satiate a small army, we decided it was time to head back to reality.

On a side note, we found a plastic flamingo. I intend to keep him... for due purpose, his name is Watson. Click "Read More" below to see him...

Papa Winter is finally on his way into New York City. Bags are packed and the hotel room has been booked as he decided to lay down the law in Manhattan. Literally, two days ago I was sweating in a thin cashmere sweater. Today, my body can't possibly layer enough clothes to fight the chill. Ugh...

The good news is that I love to layer so winter fashion is a favorite challenge of mine. I decided to take a stroll through the neighborhood "community garden" with my best friends to pass some of my lazy Saturday time away. Needless to say, there wasn't too much to look at. Leaves have fallen but the few that are sticking around have turned a gorgeous, deep rouge color. This amazing sweater has a deep hood and asymmetrical front seams which lends for a more creative flair in terms of generic sweaters. My American Apparel infinity scarf can be worn twelve different ways. I obviously chose the simplest of ways to wear it today but I plan on getting through all twelve. Not sure how the "Single-Shoulder Dress" will look on me but I'll sure as hell try it. I'm a Taurus - it's what I do.

One of my favorite colors for this fall is merlot. Deep, regal and complimentary on almost any skin tone - merlot is among the must-have color superstars for your fall wardrobe. I actually found these pants at H&M recently ... they are a polyester-cotton blend so they have this amazing iridescent quality to them. I love standout pieces that I can pair with neutrals. As most of my friends will tell you, this is a signature look for me. Something bright on the top or the bottom and neutrals everywhere else. What can I say ... I like the imbalance of it all. Natalie, Claire and Christina can attest to this fact.

On an alternative note, I was completely caught off-guard with the time change on Sunday. I want to know who created Daylight Savings Time, because I definitely hate them...
